Aguilar Announces $320,000 in American Rescue Plan Funding for Inland Empire Medical Training

Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that SAC Health System has received $320,000 from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education Program. The funding was provided by the American Rescue Plan, President Biden's landmark COVID-19 relief package passed by Congressional Democrats. The funding will be used to support medical residents completing their training in the Inland Empire.

"I helped pass the American Rescue Plan to bring resources directly to our community. Organizations like SAC Health System play a key role in providing affordable high-quality health care to Inland Empire residents, and I'll continue to support funding for these kinds of programs so that more members of our community can access care," said Aguilar.

"SAC Health System is so thankful for additional funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and for Congressman Aguilar for his long-term commitment to our Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education Program. Thanks to funding from HRSA, the thirty-two residents that are being supported through this funding, and the nearly two hundred who have been supported over the years are more prepared to provide high quality care, particularly in underserved communities, and have developed competencies to serve our diverse populations and communities," said SAC Health System President and CEO Jason Lohr, M.D.

Aguilar serves on the House Appropriations Committee, the committee responsible for allocating federal funding to agencies like the HRSA.
